NEXT MEETING:October 8, 2015

Helena Quilters Guild meetings and events, unless otherwise stated, are held at the Life Covenant Church at 800 North Hoback. Entry is through the front door of the church. Guild meetings are on the 2nd Thursday of the month at 7:00 p.m. in the upstairs Sunday school area. Seamers and Dreamers is an open cluster that meets upstairs at the Life Covenant Church on the first and third Wednesdays of the month, from 10:30 to 4:00. Everyone is invited to attend. Work on your own projects, be they hand or machine projects or use Guild material to work on “Quilts for Comfort”.

Helena Quilt Guild Minutes September 10, 2015

Meeting started at 7 p.m. Welcome back Everyone!!

Guests/New Members – Sandra, Norma, Connie, Irene, Louise and Julie

Program – Tiny Treasures, Bobi Harris
Bobi talked about the Tiny Treasure Guild, the quilts must fit in a 24” square and discussed the different techniques used for tiny quilts. Showed some different types of quilts that have been done, and talked about the binding being done before the quilting of the tiny quilts. If interested in trying the tiny quilts, please let Bobi know and she can get you started.

National Teacher – Will be July 22-24, 2016 they will be taking the deposit through October and after that will be open to the public. The deposit is $60.00, and does not include the cost of the book. For each day attending you must have the corresponding book that is being demonstrated.

Show and Tell

Lots of beautiful quilts and projects!! Keep up the good work.

Quilts for Comfort

The quilts for comfort can be any size form crib size to twin/full size, any pattern, and any color. If you purchase the batting/backing for these projects you may be reimbursed for the cost of your batting. Please be sure there isn’t any fabric for the backing already stored.

Challenges/Exchanges

The 9 patch block will be going on through December, remember you get back the number of blocks you put in.

Row, Row, Row your block – Make a row ( 6-12” x 30-60”) any color/pattern you choose – bring enough for the other rows and each participant will need to add that fabric to the ongoing rows being done.

UFQ – Unfinished Quilt Challenge, bring in one fat quarter for each quilt that you want to get finished by May. Bring in the finished quilt for Show and Tell from October to May and be entered into the drawing for the fat quarters. For each quilt completed your name will be placed in the drawing.

Need Volunteers for Hospitality – if you would like to bring treats for the monthly meeting please be sure to sign up!!

Dues are $20.00 be sure to get them in to Daysee.

Name Tags – Please remember to wear your name tags, there will be a drawing at each meeting for those who remember to wear their name tags!! 50/50 – half goes to the winning ticket holder and the other half stays at the guild for items that are needed, expenses and so forth. Be sure to bring a dollar or two for your chance to win! Joanne Moore won the $61.00, congradulations!

Minutes for the June 2015 meeting – Linda Peters approved, Pam 2nd – all in favor Treasures Report Diane approved, Rene’2nd – all in favor of tableing until next meeting (October), discussion of the show stuff will be in the October meeting with more details of costs, and when the show will be.

2017 Quilt Show – need volunteers for organizing, helping with the show, please be sure to sign up!

Library has been moved; the cabinet had to be removed from the area and is now in the closet with the quilt for comfort fabric. Looking at purchasing a book cart to make it easier to get at.

Seamers and Dreamers will continue to meet as scheduled.
