NEXT MEETING: November 13, 2014

Helena Quilters Guild meetings and events, unless otherwise stated, are held at the Life Covenant Church at 800 North Hoback. Entry is through the front door of the church. Guild meetings are on the 2nd Thursday of the month at 7:00 p.m. in the upstairs Sunday school area. Seamers and Dreamers is an open cluster that meets upstairs at the Life Covenant Church on the first and third Wednesdays of the month, from 10:30 to 4:00. Everyone is invited to attend. Work on your own projects, be they hand or machine projects or use Guild material to work on “Quilts for Comfort”.

HELENA QUILT GUILD MINUTES October 9, 2014

Introductions:
Jill – Welcome!

Newsletter – Some individuals did not receive the newsletter, please make sure we have a good email address as well as a mailing address.

Char approved the minutes as they were published, Jaime 2nd the motion. All in favor of accepting the minutes.

Treasurer Report: Linda approved, Diane 2nd the motion, all in favor of accepting the report.

Quilts for Comfort: would like individuals to cut 2 1/2 inch strips or 5 inch blocks to make quilt top kits. Also please remember to take some fabric to make quilts for comfort.

Quilt Show: Jamie still needs volunteers for the quilt show, meeting to start in November. If you would be interested in helping please let Jamie know.

Hospitality: We still need volunteers for setting up and bringing treats to the meeting and helping with putting the room back in order.

Program:

Diana talked about a block exchange, handed out patterns to those interested. You would need to make 4 blocks and then they would be exchanged for 4 more. Please remember to place the number of blocks in baggie – increments of 4.

Diana Simkins, certified instructor for Judy Niemeyer will be hosting a retreat in Choteau – September, 2015 Thursday – Sunday $300.00 meals included. Please let Diana know if you would be interested.

Drawings: Diana Simkins won the 50/50 $22.00 Congratulations!

Gladys Hardin won the Early Bird drawing

Kerri Myles – won the Name Tag drawing

Bobbi talked about doll quilts and the early days of quilting, continuation of quilting. Also talked about the quilts being on display at the Governor’s Mansion.

She would like to start a “Little Women’s Club” the cost would be about $20.00 and $10.00 a month, in which you would receive a pattern in which they would be discussing/working on. Please contact Bobbi for more information.
