NEXT MEETING: March 10, 2016

Helena Quilters Guild meetings and events, unless otherwise stated, are held at the Life Covenant Church at 800 North Hoback. Entry is through the front door of the church. Guild meetings are on the 2nd Thursday of the month at 7:00 p.m. in the upstairs Sunday school area. Seamers and Dreamers is an open cluster that meets upstairs at the Life Covenant Church on the first and third Wednesdays of the month, from 10:30 to 4:00. Everyone is invited to attend. Work on your own projects, be they hand or machine projects or use Guild material to work on “Quilts for Comfort”.

HELENA QUILT GUILD MINUTES FOR FEBRUARY 11, 2016

Meeting started at 7 p.m.

Welcome – Kris, Katie and Kristina

This month’s presentation was Lynn Burkhart – Tales from a Button Hoarder. Lynn talked about buttons and what they were originally designed for. She also talked about the history of the buttons and how and what they were originally made of. The collection of buttons – time period, designs, and materials used to make the buttons. She also discussed the button shows that are being held, how to display the buttons and care for the buttons.

Block of the month – the theme is SPRING!!

Exchange – Row by Row, they are looking good!!

The Doll Quilts with only be shown until April (in the Governor’s Mansion) Please contact Bobi Harris for more information and to schedule a tour!!

Spring Retreat – will be April 27 through May 1, deposit of $50.00 needs to be in by April 1 st . Contact Carolyn if you have any questions.

Quilt Show May 2017, there will be a meeting at Glorious Days Quilt Shop on February 24 from 7 pm 8 pm. If you are interested please contact Theresa for more information.

Hospitality – Please sign up for the hospitality table/treats. We would like to see different faces greeting members at the sign up table and we also need help with the snacks/treats. It is greatly appreciated by all!!

50/50 – collected $56.00, Lisa DeWitt won the $28.00 congrats!!

Bock of the month – Green theme, Connie won!!

Minutes – Correction to January the date of the fabric sale is sale in Townsend, wrong dates entered, approved by Linda, 2nd Diana, all in favor

Budget – Treasurer’s report submitted to newsletter, Janet approved, Bobi 2nd – all in favor.

Request to donate the cabinet formally used as the Quilt Guild’s library books – to the Plaza Pantry. The Plaza Pantry donates hygiene products to the less fortunate individuals. All were in favor of this.

Nomination Committee is needed. We need individuals to come forward to replace, reelect individuals for: President, VicePresident, Treasurer and Secretary. These are very important rolls, and it is nice to see everyone have a chance to do one or all of these positions!!

From the Quilt Show Committee: Meeting was held on 224. The following will be presented to the guild at the march Meeting for vote:

Theme :

1) Tea Time in the Rockies
2) Tea~Time in the Rockies
3) T~Time in the Rockies

a. We could decorate with tea cups / picnic in the rockies, gingham etc
b. Awards and name tags follow the theme

Raffle Quilt:

1) Raindrops – using Stonehenge fabrics (appx 57 x 75) Blue/Green or Brown
2) Laura’s quilt – Little House on the Prairie Fabrics (appx 56 x 72)

There will also be signup sheets at the meeting. Please consider volunteering, it is still a long way off, but some committees need to start plans soon.

Quilt Retreat April 27 through May 1st at the Ursuline Center 2300 Central Ave. Great Falls. Cost for 4 nights $140.00, 3 nights $125.00, 2 nights $115.00. Wed and Thursday meals on your own, Friday and Sat. brunch and dinner included, Sun brunch. A $50 dollar nonrefundable deposit is due by April 1st. I will then let the Ursuline Center know the number of people we have coming, Patty had reserved it for 20 people we still have room for more.
