NEXT MEETING: June 11, 2015

Helena Quilters Guild meetings and events, unless otherwise stated, are held at the Life Covenant Church at 800 North Hoback. Entry is through the front door of the church. Guild meetings are on the 2nd Thursday of the month at 7:00 p.m. in the upstairs Sunday school area. Seamers and Dreamers is an open cluster that meets upstairs at the Life Covenant Church on the first and third Wednesdays of the month, from 10:30 to 4:00. Everyone is invited to attend. Work on your own projects, be they hand or machine projects or use Guild material to work on “Quilts for Comfort”.

Next Meeting

Our next meeting is our year end potluck. We will meet at 6:00 PM in the church basement.

Bring your favorite food dish. We are looking forward to reports of the quilt show. I think we all believe it was a great success See you all on Thursday.

Minutes for May

Guild Minutes for May 14, 2015 Meeting

Meeting began at 7 p.m. No guest. Minutes from April meeting we approved after the following change had been mentioned.

Discussed moving money from Savings into checking for Quilts for Comfort expenses. Cindy approved it and Diane 2nd the motion, all were in favor of doing this. This should have been – Money did not need to be moved from checking to savings, it needed to have approval to use money for quilt show. Motion to accept – Karen David approved, Diane 2nd the motion – all in favor.

Treasurer’s Report – Diane approved, Rene’ 2nd the motion – all in favor.

National Teacher – Still taking deposits of $60.00, a one day class is $75.00. Don’t wait to long to sign up, it will be at the Holiday Inn Downtown.

The Split Nine Patch will continue to do the exchange until December – so bring lots of blocks! Talked about Sara Gasch Blog – lots of information about quilting, possibly Sara’s Quilting Corner. Will have the potluck on June 11 – please bring your favorite dish!

And the Winners Are---
The votes are in and counted for our Bonnie Hunter Workshops next summer. Each of the quilts will be a separate one day workshop (July 22, 23 and 24th, 2016). The top three quilts and workshop days are:

Friday: Talkin' Turkey from the book "String Fling--Scrappy, Happy and Loving It!"
Saturday: Texas Tumbleweeds from the book "More Adventures with Leaders and Enders"
Sunday: Smith Mountain Morning from the book "Scraps & Shirttails II"

Remember, all of these quilts can be made smaller (fewer blocks) and done as scrappy, controlled scrappy or not. If you have already paid your deposit, please contact Kerri as soon as possible to commit to any or all of the classes at KMyles3434@aol.com or 277-9610. We are still estimating that the cost of each class will be $75. Books can be ordered through local quilt shops, online through Amazon.com or directly through her website at http://quiltville.com/shop.html (free shipping for 3 or more books.)She is developing a digital download option on her site, so it may be worth waiting to see if the pattern you need becomes available individually. To sign up you may mail your $60 deposit to hold your spot or bring it to the June guild meeting.

Mail to HQG, P.O. Box 429, Helena MT 59624 and include a note or write in memo area as 'deposit for 2016 National Teacher Workshop'. Make check out to Helena Quilters Guild. Also indicate which quilt(s) you wish to sign up for.
