NEXT MEETING: February 11, 2016

Helena Quilters Guild meetings and events, unless otherwise stated, are held at the Life Covenant Church at 800 North Hoback. Entry is through the front door of the church. Guild meetings are on the 2nd Thursday of the month at 7:00 p.m. in the upstairs Sunday school area. Seamers and Dreamers is an open cluster that meets upstairs at the Life Covenant Church on the first and third Wednesdays of the month, from 10:30 to 4:00. Everyone is invited to attend. Work on your own projects, be they hand or machine projects or use Guild material to work on “Quilts for Comfort”.

Meeting started at 7 p.m.

Welcome – Glenyse Scott and Judy Hanson

Presentation – Connie Roope from Prickly Pear Quilts and Bobi Harris taught the guild how to do the Crow’s Foot Stitch and Buttonhole Stitch on premade tea cozies. Explained how they used the stitches years gone by. Discussed Tiny Quilts with a new session to begin soon, they will be held on Sunday afternoon, or Monday evening. To keep the cost down they need individuals to participate! Camas – from Prickly Pear Quilts also talked about hand quilting and is going to be offering a three session course, starting off with a hand quilted pillow. February 4 at 1pm there will be a showing of the doll quilts at the old governor’s mansion, please contact Bobi for more information.

Monthly block exchange –Connie Leatherman won the blocks!, to be included you need to bring in a block for the February meeting – the color is GREEN

Row by Row challenge – doing a good job to all participants

Show and Tell – Lots of beautiful work being done, keep up the good work!

50/50 drawing – Sandra Kokoruda won $16.00

Minutes for the December meeting have not been completed and will be ready for the February meeting.

Treasure Report – So far we have exceeded our membership dues!

2017 Quilt show sign up sheet is available, if you can please make sure you sign up for something all help is appreciated!!

Spring retreat is April 27 through May 1, 2016 in Great Falls, cost is $140.00 for all nights, $125.00 for three nights, and $115.00 for two nights. A good way to get to know everyone!!!

Shirly holding her annual sale in Townsend – 10 am to 5 pm – 40% off fabric, she has a shop in Townsend, the sale will be from February 13 – 15.

Discussed the newsletter being on the internet – problem being personal information (phone numbers and addresses) where people can get this information fairly easily. Suggested just a hard copy with this information only, all were in favor of this. Also the budget being posted on the internet as well, suggested that should also be hard copy only, Byrl accepted, Linda 2 nd , all were in favor.

All who signed up for Bonnie Hunter’s class you can go to her website and get the supply list, and what should and should not be done before the class!
