Nov. 12, 2015 800 N Hoback Notes taken by Bobi:

Theresa began the meeting at 7pm.

Among our guests were Kim from Townsend, Lisa, Sandy Simonovich, Dwon, and Sharon. Sharon moved here from California, where she was active in a quilt guild. We hope they had a good time and join us again!

Program: Collette and LaDonna presented the program: One Block Wonders. Wow! They have really learned this technique and we were fortunate to have them share with us. Lots of examples and how-to’s. They had Maxine Rosenthale’s books on “One Block Wonders” and passed them around. They showed bolts of fabric from area quilt shops that would work for this technique – you need six sections of a repeated design. LaDonna suggested an extra yard for borders. I apologize to you guys for all my interruptions! But it was exciting!

LaDonna is teaching a class in this at Prickly Pear Quilt Shop. It is Sat. Jan 16th (Part One) and then Feb. 6th to finish.

National Teacher: Loreen reported that Great Falls cancelled their hosting of Bonnie Hunter, which will mean more expenses for us. She said there were more than 30 on a standby list, including several from Canada. We decided to check into if we could have the venue an extra day (Monday, July 25)) and if Bonnie could stay over and we could add another class. The dates are July 22, 23, and 24.

The Split 9-Patch Challenge ends next month.

Month to Month Challenge- For November, it was Christmas themed blocks. Jill was the winner.

For December, it is Orphan Blocks.

Row by Row Challenge- participating so far were Theresa, Kerri, Diane Haun, Janet, Rene’, Collette, and Julie.

UFQ’s – Win fat quarters! We had several bringing in some UFQ’s hoping they will be the winners! Among them: Diana Simkins, Jill, Louise… I had trouble keeping up with the list as I was so interested in looking at the UFQ’s and Show and Tell.

Show and Tell: among them…LaDonna, Becky, Jennifer (her second quilt!), Sandra L, (must have been some UFQ’s in there- Sandra had one that took 7 years to finally finish!), Rene’ (miniatures!), Jaunita, Leona, Jean (A One Block Wonder sofa throw- “This is not the way you do the borders!” as she showed many points that had to be bound) Sandi showed a lantern, Sandy Lehman a collage quilt inspired from one of our Quilt Show Vendors, and Linda P.

Jill brought in the quilt she made from all the historical blocks she showed last year. Each meeting she brought another one, and told us the historic story behind the design. It was nice to see the result!
