NEXT MEETING: December 11, 2014

Helena Quilters Guild meetings and events, unless otherwise stated, are held at the Life Covenant Church at 800 North Hoback. Entry is through the front door of the church. Guild meetings are on the 2nd Thursday of the month at 7:00 p.m. in the upstairs Sunday school area. Seamers and Dreamers is an open cluster that meets upstairs at the Life Covenant Church on the first and third Wednesdays of the month, from 10:30 to 4:00. Everyone is invited to attend. Work on your own projects, be they hand or machine projects or use Guild material to work on “Quilts for Comfort”.

Please bring 1 WRAPPED white elephant or gift (we don't want any peeking!) and 5 five-inch squares of fabric. Remember your show and tell items and exchange blocks! Come celebrate another year of quilting with us.

HELENA QUILT GUILD MINUTES November 13, 2014

The November meeting was called to order at 7 pm by President Janet Cervoski.

Rene Simkins motioned to approve the October minutes as written and Diana Simkins seconded the motion. The minutes were approved.

Treasurer Report was presented by Jill Larson. Diana Simkins motioned to approve the report as presented subject to audit. Rene Simkins seconded the motion and the report was approved.

Quilts for Comfort - If batting is needed please contact Susan Douglas. Remember there is a currently a challenge by President Janet to make a baby quilt – with some purple fabric in it.

Quilt Show: Jamie Cyr, Chairman - volunteers needed head up different committees and / or work on the committees for the quilt show- vendors, awards, Q4C, admission, security, raffles- if you would be interested in helping please let Jamie know. Also looking for additional items to be given away for the raffles. Daysee Swant will be quilting the raffle quilt for the show.

Quilt til you Wilt – tentatively planned for in January, please have some 2 ½ inch strips cut. Also would like people to just stop in and say hi! More information to come.

UFO – Fat Quarter Challenge, the projects need to be finished by the May meeting. The drawing will also be held during the May meeting. Good Luck!

Bobbi discussed the Governor’s Mansion tours. First week of the month, Sunday afternoon, Monday evening or Friday morning.

Bobbi also talked about a new club starting in January at Prickly Pear Quilts – A Little Women’s Club” the cost is $40.00 to start and then $10.00 a month, which will include a pattern for a “doll size quilt”, discussion about the patter and quilt and refreshments. Please contact Bobbi for more information. She also wanted to know about the National Average for completed projects, please let Bobbi know how many projects you finish within a year’s time.

Pot Luck – December 11 at 6 pm –

If your birthday is January through August please bring in a main dish or salad.
If your birthday is September through December please bring a dessert/treat.


Please bring in a white elephant gift – already wrapped. Bring in 5 5inch squares to be entered into a drawing. There will be a 50/50 drawing, as well as drawings for checks.

Jill’s monthly blocks, she talked about the history of the Dutchman’s puzzle and had the individuals show their work, also talked about the history of the current block – Clay’s choice. Remember to pick up your instructions and make the block and show it at the next meeting!

The Journey Home is looking for a green (inside of an avocado green) quilt/ wall hanging for their new building. Please let Janet know.

Program – Jill and others talked about the recent National Teacher Class. They showed some examples of blocks they had finished and shared different tips they learned from Linda Hoff.

Nancy Alley invited everyone to the Boulder Quilt Show – November 22 & 23 from 10 am – 4 pm. They will also be doing a quilt raffle.

Show and Tell followed and the meeting was dismissed at 9 pm.

Coming to Helena: JO"S LITTLE WOMEN CLUB 13!! Guild members Connie Roope and Bobi Harris will be offering the Jo Morton's Little Women Club at Prickly Pear Quilts The club meets every month for a session on Jo Morton's tips and tricks,,receive her project patterns available exclusively to JLWC members, enjoy refreshments, start on various assignments to create eight delightful miniature quilts based on antique cradle or doll quilts,hear history tidbits going back to Civil War/Montana Territory days, receive 15% fabric discounts on Club day, and earn chances to win prizes.

When? Three times per month available to choose from: Sunday Afternoons (Jan 5th 1st club meeting), Monday nights (Jan. 10) or Friday mornings (10th). Generally held in the first week of the months. The meetings are about 1 1/2 hours long. Time to be decided- any suggestions?

How much? $40.00 registration for a years worth of fun, then $10.00 per club meeting attended. This covers refreshments, 8 project patterns, discounts, and lots of information and fun, and the encouragement to NOT add to your UFO collection! Mini quilts are sweet little things that don't have the investment of time as a large one, but are just as satisfying.
